Pat Testing for DJ`S

Portable Appliance Testing is a process by which electrical appliances are routinely checked for safety. This involves appliances in the work place having a visual inspection, earth bond test, resistance and / or a polarity test, after being tested the appliance will have the test results and data recorded, then a sticker placed on it to tell whether it has passed or failed. You will the be given the test results and a certificate to say the appliances have been Pat Tested and which appliances are safe to use.

All equipment that uses a mains plug should be tested -

CD Players, Mixers, Turntables, Amps, Radio Mic, Light Controllers / Chasers, EQ's, Cross-Overs, Effects Lights, Smoke Machines, Par Cans, Spot Lights, Extension Leads, Ect Ect Ect

You are not required to have speakers or speaker leads tested

Apart from peace of mind knowing that equipment has been tested. Many venues, especially council owned venues no longer allow use of disco equipment which is not PAT tested. If you cannot work in certain places because you havent had your equipment tested, the only answer is to get your appliances tested.
